{"id":976,"date":"2023-04-17T14:51:15","date_gmt":"2023-04-17T13:51:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uniglobalunion.org\/worldcongress\/?p=248"},"modified":"2023-04-17T14:51:15","modified_gmt":"2023-04-17T13:51:15","slug":"countdown-to-congress-rising-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unieuropaconference.org\/countdown-to-congress-rising-together\/","title":{"rendered":"Countdown to Congress \u2013 Rising together to strengthen our global movement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Trade union leaders from every continent will gather in Philadelphia, USA, for UNI Global Union\u2019s 6<sup>th<\/sup> World Congress from 27-30 August 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Meeting under the theme \u2018Rising Together,\u2019 labour leaders representing some 20 million workers will set UNI\u2019s course for the next four years and elect the leadership of the global union.<\/p>\n<p>UNI\u2019s mission is to build power for working people through strong unions and effective collective bargaining. The Congress is an opportunity to our deepen our shared commitment to growing our unions\u2019 numbers and increasing unions\u2019 influence over the global economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UNI General Secretary, Christy Hoffman, said: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><em>\u201cOur Congress aims to inspire hope, nourish solidarity and spark action among unions around the globe. We are excited to be rising together in Philadelphia, a proud union city, to set a path that will improve workers&#8217; lives worldwide.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/uniglobalunion.org\/worldcongress\/about\/\">The Congress agenda<\/a> promises to have electrifying speakers and to explore union victories from all of UNI\u2019s sectors. The four-day programme will also address some of the key issues facing unions today, including: organizing and collective bargaining; an inclusive global economy; human rights, democracy and racial justice; health and safety; and the climate crisis.<\/p>\n<p>The Congress website is live and registration is open.
